Organizational Assessment and Design

For Colleges, Universities, Companies:

An organizational assessment is an impartial, external look at how one or several departments, offices or groups are structured and how well they are operating.  In an organizational assessment, we do 1:1, confidential interviews with every member of the group(s) plus key stakeholders. Then, we distill and summarize key takeaways and recommendations in a detailed report.  It can be done independently, or in combination with the other services detailed below.

+ Client Example

A medical school dean seeking to strengthen the leadership and operations of three large offices that reported to her came to us for an organizational assessment. Working closely with the dean and senior human resources professionals, we conducted individual assessments of each of the offices, providing detailed recommendations on organizational structure, operations, and leadership opportunities. As are result the dean has greater clarity on organizational strengths, improvement priorities, and a clear action plan in terms of improving operations.

Designed and led the change management strategy, built trust with key stakeholders, aligned the community behind the vision and co-created the implementation plan with both the steering committee and working group. The system was implemented on time, within budget, and enjoyed the support of diverse key stakeholders throughout.

Research and Benchmarking

For Colleges & Universities:

We do a range of customized research projects, from market and customer research to major industry trends and future impacts. These reports are designed to inform university strategy and benchmark programs and offerings.  Tools we leverage include literature searches, online surveys, focus groups, and in-depth interviews.

For Companies:

We support your learning organization and goals by doing research on available programs and expertise from universities.

+ Client Examples

College: For a global consortium of executive education organizations, conducted an environmental scan and in-depth interviews to determine whether or not it was best to create in-house capabilities or to outsource/partner in order to offer executive programs at scale. The research suggested that while partnering strategies are attractive and widely used, universities should proceed with caution as these partners are likely to become future competitors.

Company: A global learning organization was interested in best practices to evaluate impact and return on learning for custom programs they had developed with university partners. We did background research on best practices and provided a recommended framework that was presented to executive sponsors.
